Garden gates

Side gates and wider double gates, matched to the fence and hung to keep closing properly.

Side gates

The gate most people use every day, so it needs to swing freely, latch first time and lock if you want it to. We build or supply it to match the fence and hang it on posts sized for the job.

  • Matching closeboard, panel or slatted designs
  • Strap or T-hinges, thumb latches, bolts and lockable latches
  • New gate on existing posts, or new posts as well

Wider double gates

Where you need to get a mower, barrow or bikes through, a pair of gates spreads the width and the weight. Wider openings need stronger posts and a drop bolt to hold the fixed leaf.

What makes a gate last

  • Posts set deeper and heavier than ordinary fence posts
  • A brace or frame so the gate doesn't drop at the latch side
  • A small gap at the bottom so it clears paving and grass
